About

Tix on the surface is a custom ticketing platform, but really it seeks to reimagine event access through gamification and community engagement. "Sharebees" turned ticket distribution into a discovered experience with QR codes hidden on wheat-pasted posters around San Francisco, each with a unique dinosaur-themed name, providing a free ticket to the hunter and allowing them to invite others. The Freebees daily giveaway created anticipation by releasing one free ticket at a random time each day, rewarding the first person to press the button at that exact moment.

The platform features a quadratic pricing curve where ticket prices increase in 1-cent increments following the formula price = t², visualized in real-time. Early buyers are rewarded while procrastinators watch prices accelerate as the event approaches. Additional features include sliding scale payments for community support and discount codes for friends.

When someone buys or wins a ticket, a custom AI-generated profile picture is created using a Flux model fine-tuned on velociraptor imagery (LoRA), giving each ticket holder a unique silly dinosaur portrait. Phone-based SMS authentication keeps the experience lightweight—users sign in with just their phone number to view their profile and access ticket QR codes for event entry.

Artist's Intention

Tix explores how the mundane act of buying a ticket can become an experience in itself. By introducing elements of chance, exploration, and visual delight, the platform transforms transactional moments into opportunities for play and community building. The quadratic pricing makes the passage of time tangible, while the treasure hunt mechanics encourage people to engage with their physical environment in new ways.
