About
Bao Show was an interactive augmented reality art experience presented as part of the 2nd Lacy Open Studios in October 2024. The installation invited visitors to observe four animated dream sequences featuring a character named Bao, watching his dreams come to life right before them through their phones.
The experience featured whimsical scenarios including Bao and his grandfather on adventures, Bao as a scientist conducting experiments, Bao's DJ career, and a humorous presentation of Bao's ancestor Anubis. Visitors could scan QR codes to unlock AR experiences, and an Apple Vision Pro demo offered an immersive bubble-popping and mushroom-growth simulation.
Artist's Intention
The project explored how augmented reality can transform static art into living, breathing narratives. By presenting dreams as AR experiences, we invited viewers to question the boundary between imagination and reality, and to consider how technology can serve as a window into the subconscious.
